Andrew Smillie

Andrew Smillie

Andrew has been recording and producing music since he got a plastic toy microphone as a child. He now spends his time working for BBC Radio 3, recording chamber music, large orchestral works, jazz, and is beginning to specialise in World Music. He enjoys travelling to places across the globe, carrying bulky equipment that always gets him questioned at airport security, and improvising microphone stands with found objects and gaffer tape. Andrew also occasionally lectures uninterested students in the value of proper microphone placement, the glory of stereophonic sound, and other such arcane knowledge.
